MISSION STATEMENT
The Roxbury Softball Association is a softball program that allows players (ages 3-15) of all abilities to compete in recreation or travel leagues. Our goal and focus is to create opportunities for our players to develop athletically and socially. We are committed to creating a positive softball experience while also teaching the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork and having fun.RECREATION PROGRAM
Our Roxbury Recreation Girls Softball is an instructional program available for players ages 3 to 15. The program is divided by multiple levels of play and is designed to provide instruction to all players regardless of playing ability. During the spring of 2018, we introduced our first softball T-ball clinic and had over 75 girls register. Our program is continuing to grow and we are adding new enhancements every year. In addition to our spring program, we host an annual Winter Softball Clinic for players from January to February to help prepare players for the upcoming spring season. T-Ball
This program is for girls ages 3 and 4 and will introduce basic skills and mechanics for throwing, catching, fielding and hitting. Players must be 3 by January 1 of that year to be eligible. The program will run on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for 6 weeks. Our first session starts around the end of April and will go until the beginning of June. No sessions are held on Easter, Mother's Day or Memorial Day Weekend. Make up sessions will be held if needed.
The first weeks run as practice. Each coach will be in charge of their own practice. Then for five weeks, the players will participate in mini instructional games. Farm
This is a non-competitive program for girls ages 4 - 6 that focuses the introduction of softball by teaching the fundamental skills of softball while having an exciting and positive experience. Players will begin the season using tees and will transition to coach pitch by the end of the season. Games last about an hour and every player will bat and get an opportunity to play the field. There are modified rules to help players develop a basic understanding of the flow of the game. Rookie
This is an instructional program for girls ages 6 - 8 that focuses on skills development while having an exciting and positive experience. Players will continue with coach pitch at the beginning of the season but will advance to player pitch by the end. Players will be introduced to additional aspects of the game such as learning multiple positions and trying to complete three outs to end the inning. There are still modified rules but coaches will keep the game competitive by keeping score. Minors
This program focuses on skills development while having an exciting and positive experience. Players will pitch on their own for the first time for the whole game and be introduced to a higher level of play with a more competitive environment. Games run six inning or two hours using an 11" ball and pitch from 35 feet. Players at this level will play teams in the surrounding area. Majors
This is a competitive program that prepares players for high school level play while having an exciting and positive experience. Players will pitch on their own and be introduced to a higher level of play with a more competitive environment. Pitchers will move back to 40 feet and will use a 12 inch ball. Players at this level will play teams in the surrounding area. REBELS TRAVEL PROGRAM
Take your game to the next level. Our Roxbury Rebels program is the travel division of Roxbury Softball Association and welcomes girls to attend and compete for a spot on our competitive travel teams. Over 15 years, the Rebels have been dedicated to creating and maintaining a positive softball experience for the girls and their families, emphasizing camaraderie, sportsmanship, and experienced coaching to help improve individual skills. Our teams play in various travel leagues and tournaments within the Northern New Jersey area. Spring Tryouts are held in the fall for our travel teams and results are announced around November.
The Rebels compete in the fall, spring and summer in leagues and tournaments and then train during the winter. The fall season runs from September thru October and the spring season runs from April through June. Some travel teams will participate in a summer league that runs from the end of June to July. While the Rebel organization runs a competitive program, its success is not measured only by victories, but also by player development and enthusiasm. Rebels offer teams at U8, U10, U12 and U14 and the travel teams are selected from open tryouts that take place in the fall for the following calendar year. See more about our tryouts in the Parent's Dugout.
